È un tipo di artropode non insetto. Quando viene disturbato, rotola in una palla, motivo per cui si chiama roly-poly. Perché sembra anche una pillola, Armadillidium vulgare è anche conosciuto come un pillbug. Sono notturni, quindi durante il giorno è possibile trovarli nel terreno o sotto le pietre. Pur essendo originaria dell’area mediterranea, si trova anche negli Stati Uniti (popolazione significativa), Sud Africa, India, Madagascar e Australia.
It is a type of non-insect arthropod. When it is disturbed, it rolls into a ball, which is why it is called roly-poly. Because it looks also like a pill, Armadillidium vulgare is also known as a pillbug. They are nocturnal, so during the day it is possible to find them in the soil or under the stones. Even though it is native for Mediterranean area, it can be found also in the United States (significant population), South Africa, India, Madagascar and Australia.
